Synthetic/Mesh Upper The Asics Patriot 8 Running Shoe features a synthetic/mesh upper, which delivers a lightweight and comfortable fit with excellent breathability. The mesh panels allow hot air to leave the shoe, and cold air to penetrate and travel into the shoe to ensure that the foot stays cool and dry. A removable EVA sockliner delivers a superb, adaptive fit that can be removed to accommodate a medical orthotic. A California Slip last also helps to improve stability and comfort as the upper is stitched to the EVA board before being directly attached to the midsole. There is also the added benefit of reflective elements to ensure visibility when running in low-light conditions. EVA Midsole The Patriot 8’s midsole incorporates a full stretch EVA midsole platform designed with flex grooves that strategically fold on impact. This folding design reduces the pressure on the underfoot, and creates a more cushioned ride for the wearer. Durable Outsole This shoe features an Asics High Abrasion Rubber outsole (AHAR®). AHAR® is a lightweight rubber compound that offers brilliant traction; it also boasts three times the durability of Asics’ standard rubber. AHAR® is strategically placed in areas of the outsole that succumb to the most wear and tear, which helps to extend the shoe’s lifetime. The result is an extremely durable outsole with exceptional multi-surface grip. The outsole also features a Trusstic System, which comprises a plastic bridge located under the foot of the arch, to help provide stability and comfort at a reduced weight. Blown Rubber provides cushioning to the outsole, for a more comfortable ride.
